I'm Mrs. Oh My Gosh That Brittny's Shameless

Random Scatterings

I need a break from thinking

RIGHT

THIS

VERY

INSTANT.

Although I don’t really have much to say (but really- do I ever??), I feel the need to step away from whatever it is that I’m doing and just chill out.

Hmm-

Chill out.

Note to self: find out if that is still “cool” to say.

Anyway, there’s not much going on worth mentioning (again- is there really ever??). I just felt the need to post.

Wait.

I already said that.

Oh well. Moving right along.

I’m so ready for the weekend. There’s really no particular reason other than the fact that I’m just ready. Ready, ready, ready.

Did I ever tell you guys that Kuwait swtiched their weekends

Ohhh

Ha, not that you really care.

Anyway, Kuwait switched their weekends from Thursday-Friday to Friday-Saturday the first of September. So- tomorrow is my “Friday!” I’m so ready to get on with it.

What else??

Oh- if you know of any wonderful loving dog lovers in Kuwait, could you send them my way please?? Will and I are starting to stress a little about what we’re going to do with poor Bosworth and Lucille while we’re in Jordan next month. Boarding is outrageous here, so we’d really prefer not to.

See!?

SEE!?

This is why we need friends, Will!

I highly doubt we’ll be able to meet and become best friends with the couple I’m obsessed with right now. So, we’re going to have to suck it up and either donate Boz to science research or board the doggies.

I’m still holding out for our best friends, but don’t worry- I won’t dump the dogs on them. We both know that if I did that they’d run screaming and never want to see us again the second Boz hiked his leg and peed on anything that looks remotely close to a tree or fire hydrant.

Or really, anything at all for that matter.

Poor Boz.

We started sticking his nose in the pee and telling him “no” lately.

Are we bad dog parents?

I read to do that somewhere…

I hope you’re not calling PETA right now.

Anyway- it just makes you think, you know? I mean, you’d never do that to your kid- so why stick your dog’s nose in pee?

Ahahaha- sorry, I just had a visual of doing that to a kid.

I’m a nerd.

Okay, back to the matter at hand.

I don’t know if it’s working, I hope so. We’re not very consistent- and as we all know- consistency is key.

The Gooolden Key.

Wow- this is a really dumb and random post.

Anyhow (hmm- let’s count the times I say “anyhow” or “anyway” in a post! It’s quite frightening I’m sure), as you can see, I’m a little scatter-y today. I needed this release though. I feel a lot better!

Happy Hump Day! More to come…

If I were there I would watch your preciuos little pooches.  We have one of our own--Harrison.  He really is a sweet little thing, but I don’t know how much he would like sharing his space with Boz.  He’s kind of the alpha type.  Wait--did I just say kind of??  He’s extremely alpha male!!  Hopefully you find someone to watch them.  Boarders scare me.  In the meantime, for the potty situation, check out Cesar Millan, the dog whisperer, at http://www.cesarmillaninc.com.  He’s great!!  Happy “Friday” eve!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

When we had dogs growing up we always rubbed their nose in it… and although it’s only been 8 months and I’ve already mostly forgotten - I think we may have done that a time or two with Bo.... or maybe we just shouted “oh NO!” and scopped him up and took him outside… which I don’t think would have been optimal as then there would have been a trail to clean up instead of a puddle… hmmm… sorry Britt - I’m obviously not much help… I know Mrs. Chicky isn’t in any condition right now to probably answer many (or ANY) questions right now, but maybe that question has previously been asked on her Dog Gone Blog?  if you don’t have the link to it there is a button in my sidebar, as well as a link from her regular page… I hope you get it figured out soon!!! We’ll be dealing with the same issue in February when we go on our cruise… Good luck!!

It’s just like being a parent isn’t it? Always questioning what’s right. You’re doing fabulous. Wish I could help you out. On second thought, my doggies would probably eat yours, we better not!!

Hi Brittny,

Now that I’ve come out of my lurker status…
Actually, rubbing their noses in it doesn’t work because by the time you’ve done that, they’ve forgotten they did something wrong.  Dogs have very short short-term memories.  What works best is to catch them in the act and scold them then take them out and when they do it correctly outside praise them.

Good luck!

I think Mel’s right on the whole “nose in the pee” situation. Also...I’m not quite sure consistency is actually always the key. I think sometimes they just do things out of spite anyway. Or maybe I’m just a bad doggie parent too. Wait...I actually think I am. Poor Amei doesn’t get quite as much attention since Jackson’s entered the mix.

I too have read in several things that you’re not supposed to take them to the area they had the accident in, and make them smell it and whatnot, BUT....we do.  So, you’re not alone.  I always carry them to the area they peed in that they aren’t supposed to, point to it, make them smell it, say “NO!!!”, and then carry them to the puppy pad, set them on it, point at it, and say, “you go here.  you go here” etc.  You get my drift, I think!  I don’t think you’re bad doggie parents!  Best of luck figuring out what to do with them when you go on vacation....if I lived near you I would totally babysit those cuties!

As much as I was tempted, I never did stick my child’s nose in her pee… nope, not once.  Giving them stickers works… have you tried stickers with Boz?  We have lots of “Dora the Explorer” ones we could send you.

I wish I could watch your dogs for you!  I hope you can find something to do with them so you don’t have to donate them for science research smile

So we’ve established not to rub the dogs’ noses in pee...but I’ve got a lot of students I would like to try it on.  Is that okay?  smile

Have a good weekend, Brit!!

lol. . .Dozer was crate trained as a pup, so come the H word or highwater it was his bed area so her NEVER peed in there. As he got bigger we took the kennel out of the kitchen and just blockaded him in the kitchen and he just adapted to a bigger space with no peeing. I’m also a disciplinarian when it comes to things like that (the queen of “NO"), and when he does good I try to give him a belly rub or a treat.

Houses are not very cheap and not everyone is able to buy it. However, personal loans was created to aid different people in such situations.
